Glossop, August 2022

Our August coach ramble was to Glossop in Derbyshire. 40 People joined us for fantastic day out.

Peter led the long walk with 21 people through the Glossop countryside with undulating hills passing cattle and sheep.  Lunch was beside the picturesque Bottoms Reservoir. The 7.5 mile walk finished witha drink at the local Wetherspoons before our homeward journey.

Phil led la group of 19 walkers from Glossop town centre through Manor Park and past the entrance of the former market place in Old Glossop.  They continued past the derelict Shire Hill Hospital, up Blackshaw Clough to Swineshaw reservoir where they saw South African Rheas and numerous peacocks.  A final climb to the reservoir was a bit of a challenge, walking to Padfield was followed with a stiff climb up Redgate and lunch stop near Castlehill Wood.  It was then all downhill back to Glossop for refreshments.
