Holmfirth, Yorkshire

August's coach trip was to Holmfirth, Last of the Summer Wine country.  Peter Wilson led the party of 16 on the longer walk along part of the Holme Valley Trail towards Holme Moss and Digley and Brownhill reservoirs.  They found steeply undulating paths but enjoyed fine views.

Frank Atherton led the group of 21 on a 4.5 mile walk by Back Lane and through Upperthong.  At lunch time it started to rain but they were able to enjoy a drink and sandwiches, plus Frieda's cake, in the pub thanks to a very hospitable, young landlady.  After a detour from the route Frank led them back to Holmfirth where they visited Bill Owen's (Compo's) grave.  Once again a good day out was enjoyed and the forecast heavy rain did not happen.
