Orton, Cumbria

Peter Wilson led a group of 24 on a "slog" of 9 miles over Great Asby Scar to Sunbiggin Tarn and back to Orton.  They enjoyed a brisk walk and despite the low hanging cloud they could see panoramic views of the Lake District peaks, the Howgills and the Pennines.  The route included part of the Coast to Coast walk on the Shap to Kirby Stephen section.

Frank and Margaret Atherton were helped by their daughter Janet, who led 18 on a walk to the top of Orton Scar.  There they admired the views as they had lunch by the Memorial cross.  Back in Orton the café/chocolate factory and the George Hotel were both very popular.
