Tarporley, Cheshire.

May's coach ramble was to the village of Tarporley in Cheshire.  Peter Wilson led the eight mile walk from the main street (the old A49) up Park Road past the Health Centre/Hospital onto the Portal Golf Course.  This is an upmarket Hotel, Spa, Golf complex.  This led to the picturesque village of Eaton with its thathched houses.  The route then led back over the golf course across the busy A49 to eventually join the Sandstone Trail.  A mixture of tracks, pasture and ploughed fields took us to Birch Heath and then back into Tarporley via the churchyard.

John Lenagan led the shorter 5 mile walk from Tarporley across the busy A49 through ploughed fields, where a very helpful farmer showed us where the footpath was to Beeston Brook.  From there we walked along the canal, where we stopped at some picnic benches for our lunch, where we had a view of Beeston Castle.  We then made our way towards the Sanstone Trail which took us back in to Tarporley.

Both groups met in the Rising Sun pub for a rewarding drink as the rain started.
